Uterine Fibroids

Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop from the muscular tissue of the uterus. They vary in size, number, and location, and while some women have no symptoms, others may experience significant menstrual and reproductive health problems.

Common symptoms include heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, painful periods, frequent urination, abdominal swelling, and fertility concerns.

Diagnosis usually involves a medical history, pelvic examination, and ultrasound, with additional investigations recommended when necessary.

Treatment depends on symptoms, fibroid size and location, age, and future pregnancy plans. Options may include observation, medications to control symptoms, hysteroscopic procedures, laparoscopic myomectomy, or other surgical treatments.
