Urinary incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine and is a common condition affecting women of different ages. It may occur while coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercising, or present as a sudden and difficult-to-control urge to urinate.

Common causes include weakened pelvic floor muscles, pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, obesity, urinary tract conditions, neurological disorders, and age-related changes.

Diagnosis involves a detailed medical history, physical and pelvic examination, urine tests, and additional bladder investigations when required. Identifying the type and cause of urinary incontinence is essential for selecting appropriate treatment.

Management may include pelvic floor exercises, bladder training, lifestyle changes, medications, and surgical procedures in selected cases. With appropriate diagnosis and treatment, urinary symptoms can often be significantly improved.
